The American fashion house Tom Ford was founded by designer and film director Tom Ford in 2005 and began production with decorative cosmetics and glasses. The former is produced by the perfume and cosmetics giant Estée Lauder (however, the designer personally oversees the development of new compositions), and the eyeglass frames are produced by Marcolin Group. Ford returned to creating clothes in 2007, presenting the first men's collection, and then, in 2010, the brand began producing clothes for women. In advertising campaigns for all products, the designer actively exploits the theme of sex, for which he has been repeatedly criticized by various activists and journalists. Some of his campaigns did not pass censorship at all and were banned in a number of countries. The first fragrance from Tom Ford appeared in 2006. Provocative and complex Black Orchid gave rise to the Signature Collection and almost immediately became the cause of a dispute over which segment, niche or luxury, the brand's perfumes should be classified as. Black Orchid has spawned a whole collection of flankers, the latest of which, Velvet Orchid Lumiere, was released in 2016. In 2007, the woody fragrance Tom Ford for Men (flanker - Tom Ford for Men Extreme, 2007) was released, and in 2009 - the aldehyde-vetiver Grey Vetiver (Grey Vetiver Eau de Toilette, 2014). Both compositions are intended for a male audience, although Tom Ford himself does not divide perfumery by gender. Also in 2007, the first eleven fragrances of the Private Blend collection were released, which, according to the Tom Ford marketing department, distances itself from mainstream perfumery and consumer expectations. During the year, three fragrances were released at once, which became sales leaders and universal favorites: Oud Wood, Tobacco Vanille and Tuscan Leather. According to the laws of the luxury segment, successful fragrances receive entire collections of flankers, as well as copies and fakes of varying degrees of closeness to the original. However, flankers never appeared, but many copies and fakes did. Tom Ford bestsellers are among the most counterfeited in the luxury segment. The Private Blend collection is extensive and consists of several subcollections. Since 2009, exclusive thematic lines have been released, consisting of four fragrances. In 2009, these were white musk fragrances from the White Musk Collection, floral Jardin Noir appeared in 2012, sweet oriental Atelier d’Orient was released in 2013, and in 2016 - green Les Extraits Verts. All of them are discontinued except for Café Rose from the Jardin Noir collection, and Les Extraits Verts are still available on the official website. In 2012, the woody-leathery fragrance Noir appeared, which became the beginning of four flankers. In 2017, the designer continues to provoke the consumer and releases the spicy-leathery Fucking Fabulous, which arrived in stores in many countries (including Russia) with a label on which the word "fucking" was censored and covered with a red stripe. In addition to perfumes, decorative cosmetics, clothing and accessories, the brand produces body mists, perfume candles and personal hygiene products.
