ELLA K
Ella K is a brand by perfumer Sonia Constant. After many years of working for major houses (her hits include Pure Musc Narciso Rodriguez, Angel Nova Mugler, Ombre Leather 16 Tom Ford), Constant decided to launch her own project, which would give her more creative freedom. The inspiration for Ella K fragrances is the theme of travel, and the brand itself is named after famous female travelers who became legends of the 20th century: athlete and photographer Ella Maillart, writer Karen Blixen and Tibetan explorer Alexandra David-Neel. Constant recreates the smells of the most distant places on the planet, which she visited with her husband and co-founder of the brand Olivier Gallardo. The first fragrances were released in 2017. Brumes de Khao-Sok was inspired by the fog over the Thai island of Khao Sok, and Pluie sur Ha Long was inspired by the rain over Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam. Poème de Sagano conveys the atmosphere of a bamboo forest near Kyoto. Baiser de Florence is a memory of Florentine palaces and cathedrals with the scents of wood, incense and concrete, mixed with the aroma of a loved one's kiss. Lettre de Pushkar is a trip to Rajasthan in India, Mélodie d'Altaï is inspired by the southern Altai and western Kazakhstan, Epupa Mon Amour is inspired by the Epupa Falls on the Kunene River in southwestern Namibia. At Pitti Fragranze 2019, Constant presented two new compositions that were born after her trip to Botswana. Cri du Kalahari recreates the atmosphere of an African night in the Kalahari Desert, Reflet Sur L’Okavango was born from the perfumer's journey along the branches of the Okavango Delta. Mémoire de Daisen-In is one of the latest releases in the brand's collection. The fragrance is inspired by the Daisen-In garden in Kyoto, the scents of which are conveyed through shades of ambrofix, benzoin and nutmeg, surrounded by green and woody notes.
