Jimmy Choo is an English brand of footwear and accessories, founded in 1996 by Malaysian-born designer Jimmy Choo and former Vogue editor Tamara Mellon. The brand became famous largely due to its close ties with celebrities, as well as its appearance in the film The Devil Wears Prada and the TV series Sex and the City. One of the brand's famous clients was Princess Diana. Among the brand's first popular models were pointed-toe stiletto pumps: in the mid-90s, this style was just beginning to gain interest, and Choo filled the empty niche by releasing his own variations on the theme - in all possible colors and with a variety of decor. Already in 1998, the brand opened its own store in New York, and a year later - in Los Angeles; in 2000, the brand entered the Asian market, and three years later launched a line of bags and accessories. Over the next decade, the company changed hands several times (Jimmy Choo stepped down in 2001, when his niece Sandra Choi took over the brand's creative direction, and Tamara Mellon left the company in 2011), constantly raising its stakes on the market. The brand's last deal was with the Michael Kors concern in 2017, when the brand was bought for $1.35 billion. There have been no such leaps in the brand's perfume portfolio: Inter Parfums has been and remains the only licensor of Jimmy Choo since the company entered the beauty market. The history of their cooperation began in 2011 with the launch of the eponymous Jimmy Choo fragrance, which to this day remains one of the brand's main bestsellers (and which has received many limited seasonal editions and flankers during its release). Soon after the debut launch, the brand introduced new flagship compositions: Flash was released in 2013, followed in 2014 by Stars and Jimmy Choo Man; a year later - light women's Illicit and Blossom. One of the latest major launches of the brand was the men's Urban Hero, while the brand's priority remains the expansion of existing lines.
