SERGE MAJOULLIER
Born in Grasse, Serge Majoullier pursued studies in chemistry and economics before joining MANE's analysis and chromatography department. He then transitioned to the essential oils and floral products department before ultimately becoming a perfumer. From 1995 to 2002, he served as the perfumery director, subsequently focusing on the creation and re-establishing himself as a perfumer while maintaining a role in research. Majoullier has worked extensively on supercritical extraction processes with Jungle Essence, as well as the development of raw materials.
Serge Majoullier, an accomplished perfumer, has worked with an array of esteemed brands, such as CIEL Parfum, Giorgio Armani, Jacomo, Jo Malone London, Karl Lagerfeld, Lulu Castagnette, Majouri, Mugler, Neotantric, Nuxe, Pascal Morabito, Phebo, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Viktor&Rolf. Among his most popular creations are Viktor&Rolf Bonbon, Mugler Womanity Eau pour Elles, Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum, and Karl Lagerfeld for Her.
Despite the extensive exploration of biodiversity in the perfume industry, Serge Majoullier demonstrates that the palette of natural ingredients is far from immutable. Constantly seeking innovation, composition houses develop new products annually, offering their perfumers and clients original olfactory nuances. Majoullier's expertise lies in blending these two pursuits—creating new scents and researching nature-derived materials—by designing fragrances that highlight the ingredients of MANE.
Majoullier's primary source of inspiration is nature, as demonstrated by his treatment of iris, which evokes chocolate nuances, as seen in Armani Privé's Femme Bleue. His secondary inspiration comes from the culinary world, where he appreciates the creative associations crafted by chefs, often drawing inspiration from the scents of his mother's rice and semolina cakes. Furthermore, Majoullier is inspired by the atmospheres of daily life, such as fairs and markets, which is why he enjoys traveling—later connecting his olfactory memories to a specific project.
Majoullier's creations include Nuxe's Prodigieux Le Parfum, Lolita Lempicka's Elle L'Aime, Karl Lagerfeld's upcoming feminine fragrance (with Christine Nagel), and Viktor & Rolf's Bonbon (with Cécile Matton). In Lolita Lempicka's Elle L'Aime, Majoullier, alongside Christine Nagel, explored an olfactory story centered around white flowers, particularly jasmine and ylang-ylang, textured by a natural coconut note extracted using MANE's exclusive Jungle Essence™ technology. The resulting incandescent white floral fragrance embodies flesh and blood of the Lolita Lempicka woman.
Serge Majoullier's dedication to innovation, research and the exploration of natural ingredients has made him a force to be reckoned with in the perfume industry. His talent for creating unique, memorable scents and his passion for discovering new olfactory nuances ensures that his work continues to be admired by both clients and fellow perfumers alike.
