RICHARD HERPIN
Richard Herpin was born and raised in Cannes, France, near the heart of the perfume industry. Growing up, he was surrounded by antiques in his father's shop and home, which instilled a deep appreciation for fine things and a strong aesthetic sense. The scents from his father's atelier, particularly those of the precious woods, would inspire his future creations later.
Richard's interest in perfumery began during his interactions with master perfumer Pierre Bourdon, who was part of his family circle. As they shared smelling sessions, Richard developed a deep passion for the art of perfumery, with Pierre becoming his mentor and guiding him in his approach to creating fragrances.
Richard Herpin's education in perfumery was shaped by the invaluable lessons and guidance he received from Pierre Bourdon. He learned the importance of capturing the essence of a fragrance and leaving aside unnecessary details. Richard's career in the fragrance industry took off as he worked with numerous renowned brands, such as Amouage, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Tom Ford, creating awe-inspiring scents for over 25 years.
Richard Herpin's approach to perfume creation is centered around emotions and spontaneity. He compares creating a perfume to sketching a scene in real life, where the perfumer first captures an emotional moment, then adds colors and details. Richard loves the idea that perfume is never the same for any two people and constantly evolves as worn. His fragrances are often described as a harmonious blend of different music genres, each reflecting the moment's emotions.
The story behind the brand Precious Liquid began when model Geo, Richard Herpin's wife, had a vision of an olfactive label of excellence that would change the heart of many. Together, they created Precious Liquid, a collection of pure, gentle, fresh, and clean fragrances. The brand aims to express individuality and reflect the generosity of God's creation through precious oils sourced from around the world.
Richard Herpin has composed numerous popular perfumes throughout his career, including Tom Ford Oud Wood, Badgley Mischka, Amouage The Library Collection Opus VIII, Van Cleef & Arpels Birmane, and Avon Flower by Cynthia Rowley EDP. These creations showcase his exceptional talent and ability to craft fragrances that resonate with people from different walks of life.
