Celine Paris is a luxury fashion brand founded in post-World War II France in 1945 by the Parisian couple, Céline and Richard Vapiana. The ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes, and accessories brand was slowly invested in and eventually acquired by LVMH in 1996 by founder and current Chief Executive Officer, Bernard Arnault. Surprisingly, few creative directors have passed through the company’s three-fourths of a century-standing. What remains a continued debate is the rivalry between old and new Celine — more specifically the visual rivalry between Phoebe Philo and Hedi Slimane.
