Jacques Fath is a French fashion house founded by fashion designer Jacques Fath in 1937. Along with Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain, Fath was one of the three largest and most popular European designers of the post-war world. The first fragrance under the Jacques Fath brand was released in 1945 and was called Chasuble. Its creator was perfumer Vincent Roubert. The first batch of bottles turned out to be the last - these perfumes did not go on sale to the general public. In 1946, Iris Gris and Green Water appeared, which later became legendary and formed the brand's legacy. Initially, their circulation was also limited, but then they became generally available. In 1950, the perfume division of the house was separated into a separate brand, which released the fragrances Canasta (1950) and Fath de Fath (1953). In 1954, Jacques Fath died of leukemia, and in 1955 the fashion house was closed, and the perfume brand was subject to a series of acquisitions by other companies. From 1964 to 1992, the license for the release of fragrances was owned by the French company L'Oréal. In 1992, the brand was bought and relaunched by France Luxury Group, but in 1996 it was resold to Banque Saga Group. Just a year later, it was acquired by Groupe Emmanuelle Khanh, which in 2002 became part of the Alliance Designers Group and announced the revival of the fashion line. However, two years later, the brand was sold again. The current owners of the brand are the perfume company Panouge, which acquired it in 2008 and set a course for the revival and rejuvenation of the perfume line from Jacques Fath. Rania Naim became the creative director of the brand. In 2015, under the direction of Naim, the first part of the FATH ESSENTIALS collection was released - four fragrances created in collaboration with perfumer Cecile Zarokian. Among other things, the first collection included an interpreted fragrance Green Water, which Zarokian was engaged in the restoration of with the help of the former director of the Osmotheque of Versailles, perfumer Jean Kerléo. In 2017, the second part of FATH ESSENTIALS was released - four fragrances created by the Italian perfumer Luca Maffei. And in 2018, the third part appeared, also consisting of four fragrances, two of which were developed by Cecile Zarokian, and the other two - Luca Maffei. In 2018, at the annual Milan exhibition Esxence, Rania Naim presented a new project of the brand - L'Iris de Fath. This is a revived fragrance Iris Gris from 1946. The name of the fragrance was changed, since it originally belonged to the Hermes company. After reaching an agreement on the transfer of the name, it was acquired by another company. Five perfumers were involved in reformulating the legend, and perfume critic Luca Turin was among the judging panel. After multiple blind tests, the jury members came to a unanimous opinion in favor of the fragrance developed by the young French perfumer Patrice Revillard from Maelstrom. He used natural materials of the highest quality in his work, obtained from the rhizomes of iris, rose and jasmine, supplied by the Grasse company Accords et Parfums. According to Rania Naim, the formula of the new L’Iris de Fath is the most expensive perfume formula in the world. In April 2018, 150 limited edition bottles were released, retailing at 1,470 euros per bottle. A new batch will be released every year.
