ALIENOR MASSENET

Alienor Massenet is a senior perfumer with extensive experience in the fragrance industry. She was trained in olfaction and raw materials by Monique Schlinger at Cinquieme Sens before beginning her career at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) in New York in 1995. Originally planning to stay for just six months, she remained with IFF for six years, during which time she perfected her technique and worked on her first major project, Intuition for Man by Estee Lauder. After leaving IFF New York, she worked at IFF Paris for twelve years before joining Symrise in 2016.

Massenet is known for her technical mastery, which allows her to create fragrances tailored to the tastes of different markets around the world. Her creations have been rewarded three times by the Fragrance Foundation Awards. She has worked on fragrances for numerous brands, including Liz Earle, Chloé, and MEMO.

Massenet's independent and rebellious spirit has found an ideal mode of expression in perfumes. She was trained by three of the greatest master perfumers of our times and has a passion for creating scents that evoke deep emotions and memories. Her favourite smells include the warm smell of skin under the sun, the smell of a newborn, and the powerful smell of the Atlantic Ocean.

Massenet believes that the creativity being expressed by perfumers makes this one of the most exciting times in fragrance history. She encourages people to take their time to discover fragrances and improve their knowledge by exploring different perfumes. She recommends smelling fragrances in the morning when the room is not polluted by other smells and learning to recognize and distinguish different scents.

Massenet's love for 'gourmand' fragrances, particularly vanilla, inspires her to explore the many possibilities in this fragrance family and invent new combinations. Her approach to creating fragrances is visual, with some ingredients being vertical and others horizontal. She conceives of fragrances as geometrical figures, associating raw materials with colors and emotions.
