Born into the illustrious Guerlain family, Patricia de Nicolai was destined for greatness in the world of perfumery. As Pierre Guerlain's great-granddaughter and Jean-Paul Guerlain's niece, she grew up immersed in the legacy of her family's creations. After studying chemistry in university, Patricia pursued her passion for perfume and attended the prestigious ISIPCA in Versailles, where she honed her skills in the art of fragrance. Despite her impressive pedigree, Patricia de Nicolai faced gender discrimination in the early stages of her career. With the support of her uncle Jean-Paul Guerlain, she worked at Florasynth and later at Quest International, where she collaborated with Sophia Grojsman on the iconic Lancôme Trésor perfume. In 1988, Patricia took a bold step and, alongside her husband Jean-Louis Michau, launched her own brand, Parfums de Nicolaï, which has since become a respected name in the world of luxury fragrances. Some of her most famous creations include New York Intense, Fig Tea, Patchouli Intense, Cuir Cuba Intense, and Vanille Tonka. Patricia's dedication to quality and craftsmanship has earned her numerous accolades, including the International Prize for Young Perfumers in 1988 and the French Legion of Honour in 2008. In addition to her work with Parfums de Nicolaï, Patricia serves as the president of the Osmothèque, a revered French perfume archive. Founded in 1989, Parfums de Nicolaï has quickly gained a reputation for exceptional quality and creativity. Patricia and her son Axel continue the family tradition of crafting distinguished and elegant fragrances that capture the essence of luxury. The brand is unique in its commitment to overseeing every aspect of the creative process, from sourcing the finest natural essences to manufacturing the final product. The first Parfums de Nicolaï boutique opened in Paris in 1989, with a small laboratory visible to visitors, showcasing the artistry behind the brand. Since then, the company has expanded its presence, opening additional boutiques in Paris, London, and beyond. Throughout its growth, Parfums de Nicolaï has remained dedicated to the principles that inspired Patricia and her husband to create their brand: a commitment to artistic vision, craftsmanship, and quality. Over the years, Patricia de Nicolai has introduced a number of groundbreaking fragrances, including the first Eau Fraîche, Eau d'Eté, in 1997, and Fig-Tea in 2000, which quickly became a sensation in Asia. In 2015, she received the Prix Olfactorama in the 'Enthousiasme' category for New York Intense, an Eau de Parfum version of her signature fragrance.
